CJ Russo Talks Cannabis and Economic Development in Upstate NY

June 24, 2021 — This Thursday, friends and neighbors are invited to meet Los Angeles-based Chris J. Russo, the director of newly released “Lady Buds” documentary. It has been nearly five years since California legalized marijuana. It wasn’t a straightforward or easy transition, especially for small, legacy or women growers and entrepreneurs in the marijuana field. Now, New York State’s recent legalization of recreational use of marijuana faces potential challenges as well as many opportunities!

Chris will talk about the six women she followed for three years for the documentary and how they’ve found (or not found) their niche in the legal marijuana industry.

We have every reason to think about cannabis’s impact on economic development in the Hilltowns and benefit from the experience of women growers and entrepreneurs in California. Please RSVP if you’d like to join us for excerpts from the film and a discussion/Q&A with Chris J. Russo.
